The commissioning of the Furie 4, the new Fireboat of the fire department Central and Western Brabant, Saturday morning 18th April went not quiet. It would also not appropriate for this imposing yellow-red monster. And so went the ship's horn on full volume and the firefighting monitors sprayed a lot of water into the air. Which led to some grumbling among the unsuspecting sunbathing Dinteloordse yacht owners of the Marina. On the other hand, they also appreciated to see the Furie 4 in full glory a few minutes in misty rain. The Furie 4 is owned by BST that has entered into a long-term contract with the Central and West-Brabant security region. In practice, this means that the Captain and the engineer are employed by BTS and in case of a calamity the fire squad of the post Dinteloord or Willemstad sign on the tug. The 12-year-old Fireboat is not only powered and in capacity larger than her predecessor the Furie 3 but is also equipped with the most modern techniques. So there is for example a fixed heat camera on board which a drowning man can be detected in the water, even when the victim is deceased hours before. The Furie 4 for is a former fireboat of the Amsterdam Port Authority.
